About Peeling into Burlesque You will have a blast exploring your sensuality, telling your story and just being downright hot and saucy. This workshop will give you a foundation in classic burlesque and take you step by step through creating your own Burlesque routine that’s unique to you be it classical or theatrical. You will receive personal guidance in an inspiring supportive atmosphere. Culminating with a graduation show, “Peeling Into Burlesque” is a great opportunity to rediscover that nothing is hotter than you being yourself and loving it! The best part may be the ladies you share the journey with!
We’ll cover:
Walking, bumping, grinding and shimmying techniques * Toni Elling’s 3P’s – Parade, Pose, Peel * Working with accessories & props * Musicality – how to select songs to fulfill your ideas and plan your routine. * Storytelling – how to make your number an exciting journey! * Costuming – You will create your own costume! (& learn some tricks of the trade!) * Group number in the graduation show.
About Chicava Honeychild:
Chicava HoneyChild is a burlesque danseur, actor and producer. She is the Creative Producer of New York City’s Brown Girls Burlesque and teacher at BGB’s Broad Squad. She received her MFA in Interdisciplinary Art from Goddard College her areas of interest being performance art, women of color in burlesque heritage, and sacred sexuality and spirituality. She is working on a documentary on the legacy of Women of Color in burlesque.
