Awareness to Different Centers of the Body
In many traditions of yoga it is believed that a true asana practice should hit each Chakra in a different way, specifically sequenced from Muladhara (Base) to Sahasrara (the space beyond the crown of the head). In this Chakra Balancing workshop we will work to open the energetic gates that run through the body, from lower segments (ruled by daily life) to the upper segments (ruled by higher power, universal connection, one-ness) through Asana Practice, Pranayama, Yoga Nidra, Mantra, Yantra Visualization, and Meditation. This 2.5 hour workshop will help to bring balance and ease into your living, by opening up the energy lines and meridians that run through the body.
Don’t know what a Chakra is? Don’t care? This workshop will cater to all levels and help to bring awareness to the different centers of the body. Each Chakra governs a different aspect of our being, and when in balance can help to harmonize our lives, and bring forth positivity, balance, and a sense of calm. When a Chakra is out of balance the body can create tension, discomfort, unease, and physical ailments. The benefits of opening these energetic gates are profound and can help shift and change lives, and bring self-awareness to the mind, body, and spirit.

James DeSantis is influenced by many styles of yoga, from the Jivamukti method regarding asana to the spiritual practices of Ishta yoga (Integrated Science of Hatha, Tantra, and Ayurveda.)
Dealing with issues of weight loss and weight gain for over 20 years, yoga became a consistent practice that not only physically benefitted and grounded him, but spiritually uplifted and changed his life. He began to see changes in his posture, body image and body language, and beyond the physical began to attain a lightness that can only come from beginning to reach a goal of knowing the true self. A natural non-believer, jaded New Yorker, and born agnostic, slowly started to open up to a realm that would shed light, and healing into his life.
James’ Classes are rigorous, strength, and heat building, linking and sequencing many postures together, but balanced, and light hearted. The idea is to leave the class feeling the lightness of life that we can all attain, through consistent, and dedicated practice and focus.
