How do we continue on, in the midst of this tremendous loss? I turn to the words that inspired ChiChi for guidance. If you can, you must.
I am beyond grateful for the outpouring of love and support as we grieve our collective loss. Truly, this is the most incredible and loving community ever. Thank you, thank you thank you.
ChiChi’s Memorial and Celebration of Life Service is tentatively set for December 7th. A full posting of the full day of music, dance, services, classes and celebration will follow in the next few days.
There have been a lot of questions about how ChiChi transitioned. On Wednesday, November 19th after teaching his 10am class which was particularly full and vibrant, ChiChi laughed and chatted with his students and friends. He took a long shower and roared his signature lion’s roar. He then got dressed and walked quietly into the lobby where he slowly, gently, and peacefully lied down in his final pasture. He transitioned to light quickly and although an angel student performed cpr, he remained committed to rest eternal. The cause of his heart attack is currently unknown and more information may become available over time. Many of us have taken comfort learning of a number of conversations ChiChi had in previous weeks in which he expressed that he felt complete and ready to go. ChiChi, we salute you, a life well lived. You have changed our lives. Jai ChiChi, Jai, Shanti Shanti Om.
Many of you have asked how you can help support the family, space and community. Thank you.
We’ve set up a GoFundMe campaign to accept donations for the family. Please contribute if you are able.
Please continue to show up to class with your love and your hugs. Take care of each other and inspire each other. Your presence means everything.
If you feel called to help with the memorial service, please feel free to email me directly firstname.lastname@example.org
If you have video or audio of ChiChi, Mike Tosner is making a short tribute video and you can email it to him at email@example.com
If you have other ideas of how you’d like to contribute, serve, support, or honor our brother and teacher, please let me know. It takes a village and this village is truly sacred.
I’ll continue to share updates as they come in.
