I’m kind of glutton for the truth lately. I’m constantly listening for the hidden truths – the unadulterated, elephant in the room and the needle in the haystack varieties. I can’t get enough.
My favorite review of Sacred ever, uses the phrase “shockingly unpretentious”. To me it’s the holy grail of reviews because it reflects back that at least to one student found Sacred accessible. Has this become a shocking find, a rarity, in yoga and fitness in New York? Have we come to expect pretension? Are we braced for that eerie feeling that everyone else is on the ins and we are on the outs? Or that in order to be included, we have to pretend (which by the way is the root of pretenstion) to be other than who we are? Sidenote: Do you know companies constantly solicit small businesses, including the review sites themselve to boost it’s online reputation. Thank you for everyone who takes the time to write a review for Sacred or any small business. I’d much rather stand by the generosity of your spirit and the integrity of our offerings to spread the word, than some social mediabot.
The truth I’ve been getting lately is we are all a hot mess anyways. My friend Lauren Harkness, (sideplug: who also handmakes gorgeous jewelery) posted this quote on facebook the other day:
Dear Human: You’ve got it all wrong. You didn’t come here to master unconditional love. That is where you came from and where you’ll return. You came here to learn personal love. Universal love. Messy love. Sweaty love. Crazy love. Broken love. Whole love. Infused with divinity. Lived through the grace of stumbling. Demonstrated through the beauty of… messing up. Often. You didn’t come here to be perfect. You already are. You came here to be gorgeously human. Flawed and fabulous. And then to rise again into remembering. (Gabriel Gonsalves)
If you were waiting to lose a few pound or make a few more bucks, find a beat, get the right clothes or for your schedule to line up just right. IF you were waiting for that heartbreak to heal before you take it to the mat, the pole or the dance floor, f* it. Yes, I said it. Bring your sweet hot mess of a Self here now. Rock that hot mess. You can even rock that hot mess in a class called hot mess. It all Sacred, remember?
