Tales from the 30 Day Challengers

Maybe you see them on the next mat regularly and wonder who they are outside of the hot room? Perhaps you haven’t visited us yet and are curious who goes there? I asked a few of the yogis who are braving the 30 day challenge to shed some light on their experiences in a game of 10 Questions?

1. Name? Danielle

2. What do you do outside of practice yoga? I’m an advertising consultant. I’m also starting a writing career.

1. Name? Carrie

2. What do you do outside of practice yoga? I’m a barista and a full-time student at Brooklyn College majoring in film production. I’m also a writer, photographer and musician. I’m developing my website now which will have all of my work (photography, writings, songs, films) when it is ready. In the meantime, please check out a film I made for my advanced directing class last year on Vimeo: http://vimeo.com/27930438

1. Name? Lauren

2. What do you do outside of practice yoga? I’m an actress and singer and a Special Events Manager as my day (or night) job. It’s REALLY hard on my body, pulling 12 hour shifts on hard floors in cute shoes.

3. In less than 3 sentences, why did you sign up for the challenge? I signed up because I needed to commit myself to something outside of my comfort level in the beginning of the year. I also can’t help but be inspired by the word “challenge,” and knew that I’d be held accountable doing it in a group rather than on my own as a new year’s resolution. And also because my practice had fallen off a little at the end of last year and I knew that 30 days would kick-start a new dedication to what I know is a great thing for me; yoga. [read more..]

1. Name? Elena

2. What do you do outside of practice yoga? I’m a singer/songwriter/performer, and body/energy worker.

3. In less than 3 sentences, why did you sign up for the challenge? I tend to get a little lazy about my yoga practice during the winter months, mostly because of the cold, so January in the hot room sounded pretty nice!

4. What was your intention for the last class you took? Focus

5. Biggest challenge of the challenge? I have to show up every day, no matter what, and to accept that I am not always gonna feel 100% — and love myself anyway! [read more..]
